haven't seen it! promptly adding to the queue.

night train: was the version you watched terribly dark? i got faces confused at crucial moments, became frustrated, rewound a bit, gave up, kept watching, got restless and eventually distracted. the movie was also a slow moving/slow building affair, so perhaps these elements conspired against me... also--and i'd argue this is a valid point--i watched this in the afternoon, and some films just aren't meant to be seen in the afternoon. this cool, slow movie suffered for the sunshine and the heat. pretty tedious.

that being said: the final shots of the empty train compartments were lovely. there is a great tradition of films on trains. i also love the sound of the polish language. pros all.

con: the score eventually drove me mad. i thought of sasha and "the thomas crown affair." though strangely, i can remember getting sick of it but as i try to recall it now i can only hear the theme from "rosemary's baby." that something ends up being both repellent and forgettable at once is not a good sign.

overall, however, okay film. the film historical part of me is sated. :)
